Sun-Earth Physical Relations

The solar activity influence on the Earth is investigated for a long time. Our group deals with two aspects of this impact system:

Correlation between the solar activity and the yield of some plants (e.g. wheat, corn)
The human-biological aspects of the solar activity

Time series of corn and wheat yields from countries with large agricultural area (e.g. USA, Canada, Australia, Argentina) were analysed and the results were correlated with sunspot number data series. Components with different wavelenght were searched for, and the time variations of the parameters of these components were traced in the case of either the yield and the sunspot number. Besides the well-known 11 and 22 years cycles a new, longer, wavelenght of 50-70 years periodic components were detected in the yield data, which shows good correlation with the similar cycle (periodic time cca. 60 years) of sunspot number.
