Whistler-mode propagation: guided waves

ABSTRACT

Using the method elaborated for whistler-mode VLF propagation in free space, the propagation of guided waves also can be discussed. This paper shows the determination of whistler-mode arising in wave-guide of circular cross section. It can be established that the propagation factors of the individual modes differ from each other and from that of the whistler-signal in free space, yet their relation to the free-space propagation factor is definite. This fact may be useful in evaluating the structural properties of whistlers.
