Whistler-mode propagation: solution for a homogeneous plasma

ABSTRACT

Maxwell's equations are solved for a signal of arbitrary shape excited in an isotropic medium and then propagating longitudinally in the whistler mode in a magnetoionic medium. The solution provides a tool for modelling whistler propagation and for the separation of fine structure elements due to source and propagation effects.
